Baking with Purpose: The Story of Becky Morris & Celebrated

For Becky Morris, baking has always been about more than just desserts—it’s about making people feel special. Growing up, some of her fondest memories were in the kitchen with her nana and mom, covered in flour, shaping Christmas cookies, and savoring the simple joy of creating something sweet to share. But while her love for baking was lifelong, it wasn’t always her career path.
That changed in 2018 after a visit to a farm sanctuary. Already passionate about animal advocacy, Becky’s experience there deepened her commitment to mindful living, leading her to fully embrace a plant-based lifestyle. As she searched for high-quality vegan desserts, especially for weddings and special events, she realized something was missing—there just weren’t enough options that combined indulgence with plant-based values. That’s when the idea for Celebrated was born.
Becky didn’t go to culinary school—she taught herself everything she knows. Baking became her creative outlet, a way to bring joy into people’s lives through food. She started small, bringing treats to gatherings, where friends and family encouraged her to turn her passion into a business. The more she baked, the more she saw the impact of her desserts—not just in how they tasted, but in how they made people feel. It wasn’t just about being plant-based; it was about crafting something truly special, something that made each person feel celebrated.
In 2017, she took a leap of faith and launched Celebrated, a bakery dedicated to creating beautiful, delicious, and fully plant-based desserts. French macarons, cookies, cookie dough—each treat was crafted with the same care and creativity that Becky had honed over the years. And Rhode Island, with its tight-knit small business community and fast-spreading word-of-mouth, was the perfect place to build her dream.
Owning a bakery hasn’t always been easy. There have been long nights, unexpected challenges, and the ever-evolving landscape of running a small business. But for Becky, the rewards make it all worth it. Seeing a bride tear up over her wedding cake, watching a customer’s face light up when they realize they can enjoy a dessert that meets their dietary needs—those are the moments that fuel her passion.

For anyone dreaming of starting their own food business, Becky has simple but powerful advice: Start small, stay true to your values, and build genuine connections with your community. The food industry is competitive, but passion and quality will always set you apart. Listen to feedback, stay adaptable, and most importantly, give yourself grace—challenges will come, but if you love what you do, every step is part of the journey.
Today, Celebrated isn’t just a bakery—it’s a reflection of Becky’s passion, creativity, and commitment to making the world a little sweeter, one plant-based dessert at a time.
